John Ballanfant papers, 1844-1845.

Grier, Mocksville, N.C., to John Ballanfant, Pleasant Grove, Maury County, Tenn., congratulating Ballanfant on his marriage and discussing Grier's law studies and social life; Ballanfant's Dialectic Society (University of North Carolina) oration, 1844; and a letter, January 1845, to Ballanfant, from T.T. Slade of Craigsville, N.C., describing his social life and giving news of friends. Grier, Slade, and Ballanfant were all members of the University of North Carolina class of 1844.
